This is the first of many entries I will post to my blog site. I plan to use this as a means to keep followers updated on my creative process. Yesterday I visited my friend, Kathy Baggett, who is a great creative inspiration to me. We worked on some heads for her paper mache' people she creates. You can view these on her site at www.esty.com/n2hookin. She also designs, dyes and hooks her own wool rugs.
Right now, I have started a series of oils entitled "Organic Elements of Mexico" and have finished one of the series of six. I am posting an example of my beginning idea which is just a rough sketch, one of the finished canvases and the other 3 with the backgrounds blocked in. It takes several weeks for the background to dry enough before I can proceed with the paintings and I blocked them in last Sun. (8/30/09) Where are the other two? Well, as soon as I can locate 2 more canvases that match the ones I have I'll get those blocked in as well!!! The nearest Hobby Lobby is out of that size and has not gotten any more in as of yet. Guess I'm going to have to do some scouting around...
